This is the Beginning of Your New Life
“This is the beginning of your new life.”
These are the words uttered in the film Bliss, right after Bjorn has fired Greg for spending too much time drawing pictures of his dream house instead of doing his job — answering phones.
Like Greg, many of us spend our days dreaming of a different life. Yet, rarely do we take steps towards really living the life we want. Whether we’re held back by fear, conventions, expectations, imposter syndrome or something else; it all equates to another day lost on a life we’re not happy with.
Often, it takes something big like the ending of a relationship or the loss of a job before we consider doing anything to enact any real change. Even then we can convince ourselves that we don’t have the power to create our dream life so we end up back in the same type of job, the same type of relationship, the same type of life: one where we are not fulfilled or living up to our full potential.
But positive change doesn’t come from changing who you are it comes from being who you are — the version of you that chooses to live your best life. If you’re like Greg in Bliss then you’re already an artist, you’re just not choosing to make that the center of your world.
You see, living your best life isn’t as hard as we’re lead to believe it is. Maybe you want to be a better partner, a more devoted dad, a business owner, an artist. Chances are you already have everything in place to make that a reality, you’re just not prioritizing what matters most to you.
“My advice is, never do tomorrow what you can do today. Procrastination is the thief of time.”
— David Copperfield, Charles Dickens
This is the beginning of the rest of your life and anything is possible so choose the option that puts you at the center of the life you want to live.
