Several years ago, I found myself in a writing predicament. I knew the alphabet, and how to put letters on a page to form words, and sentences, but I still struggled to write fiction. In my head, I had characters that would jump off the page they were so believable if only I could pin them down and make them do what I wanted. And I had unique storylines that would surely amaze the world if only I could figure out how to structure them so they made sense.

What I lacked were the essential elements of writing fiction. The ability to take what was in my head and logically and creatively transfer it to paper so it made a fully-formed and coherent story.

Thankfully, writing is a craft and the elements can be learned. And it was during my three-year degree in English Literature and Creative Writing that I finally acquired the knowledge and skills to be able to write short stories that were not only well put together but…
