“It’s none of their business that you have to learn how to write. Let them think you were born that way.”

— Ernest Hemingway

Several years ago, I found myself in a writing predicament. I knew the alphabet, and how to put letters on a page to form words, and sentences, but I still struggled to write fiction. In my head, I had characters that would jump off the page they were so believable if only I could pin them down and make them do what I wanted. And I had unique storylines that would surely amaze the world if only I could figure out how to structure them so they made sense.

What I lacked were the essential elements of writing fiction. The ability to take what was in my head and logically and creatively transfer it to paper so it made a fully-formed and coherent story.

Thankfully, writing is a craft and the elements can be learned. And it was during my three-year degree in English Literature and Creative Writing that I finally acquired the knowledge and skills to be able to write short stories that were not only well put together but ones that people actually wanted to read and were willing to pay for.

But learning how to write well shouldn't mean you have to spend thousands or tens of thousands on a degree or writing course. And with this in mind, I have created a completely FREE masterclass formed of 8 lessons, available right here on Medium, that will teach you everything you need to know to propel your fiction writing from amateur to pro. Here’s what you can expect:

Lesson 1: Getting Started With Fiction Writing

In this lesson, we’ll cover ideation, the importance of a writer’s notebook, how to create a writing routine, and tips on overcoming imposter syndrome.

Lesson 2: Character Creation & Development

In this lesson, we’ll cover how to create believable characters and how to portray them on the page using Action, Thought…
